Design Engineering was established in 1991 when the Managing Director Mr Dean Van Buuren was working in the tertiary sector and was being requested on a regular basis to assist with large project for drawings, structural steel inspection and welding qualification testing ie Westpac Stadium in Wellington and Horncastle Stadium in christchurch. The Company was launched and has quickly grown over the past 27 years to the current point where there are in excess of 35 staff in five branches, Christchurch , Timaru Head Office, Te Rapa Hamilton, Nelson , and Dunedin. There is also an overseas office in Suva Fiji.

Holding IANZ accreditation to ISO 17020 Design Verification, Equipment Inspections and Non Destructive Testing ensures our work is recognised world wide and our highly trained staff are suitably qualified to international requirements and experience to undertake their respective duties. Regular annual internal & external audits are carried out to ensure the Design Engineering quality management system is maintained and functioning correctly and all staff remain competent in their respective duties. It is a Statutory requirement in NZ under the PECPR regulations to have Pressure Equipment, Cranes and Passenger Ropeways inspected annually. Our Mobile vehicles enable all your equipment that requires calibration, testing and inspection is completed on or off site with minimal disruption to you and enabling a fast and efficient turn around to get your equipment back into service quickly. This service extends to out test lab facilities where you can courier or drop off equipment and get it x-rayed, calibrated etc then returned within a short period of time.
